Rooted Resilience:
A Night of Stories

In Houston, we don’t have to imagine extreme weather. We’ve lived it. Flooding, heat, storms. Most of us have a story, even if we don’t always think of it that way. Sometimes it’s a major event. Sometimes it’s just a moment that has stayed with you. Either way, those experiences shape how we see the place we call home.

On August 29, we’re hosting Rooted Resilience, a simple storytelling night centered on those experiences and how a changing environment shows up in our everyday lives. The event will be held at Drop of the Creator.

The format is straightforward. We’ll have a few invited guest storytellers sharing short, personal stories, along with community members who want to do the same. This isn’t a performance. It’s simply people sharing something they’ve lived through, and a room willing to listen.

Some stories will be about storms or flooding. Others might be about heat, change over time, or a moment when something shifted. Not every story has to be dramatic. The quieter ones are often the most memorable.

We’ll also have a writing table set up at the beginning of the evening with a few prompts for anyone who wants help getting started. You don’t have to share, but you might find that you want to.

At the end of the day, this is about making space. Space to reflect, to listen, and to better understand how these shared experiences connect us. If you’ve lived through a Houston summer, a heavy rain, or watched this landscape change over time, you already have a story.

Join us on August 29 for Rooted Resilience at Drop of the Creator.

Come listen. If you feel like it, come share. Register here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/1993365347414?aff=oddtdtcreator
